Jolie Folle Rosé 2012

Tonight from 6-8pm the wine store is thrilled to host Brian Smith, local Fort Greene resident, sommelier of note and importer/mastermind behind the Loca Linda (“Crazy Beautiful”) line of Argentinian wines.  For his rosé, he’s gone to the heart of rose territory and brings us a french version of crazy beautiful, “Jolie Folle” rosé.

All of Brian’s wines come in 1 liter bottles, meaning there’s an extra glass and a half in each bottle as compared to standard 750 ml bottles.  And if you’re comparing by price, his wine comes down to about $13 for 750ml.  Shipping in liter bottles is not only more efficient and environmentally sound, it is economical as well.  We’ll drink to that!

To order Jolie Folle Rosé 2012 ($17.50, $14.87 a bottle with case discount), call us at (718) 797-9463 or shop all our wines online.

And The Nominees For Best Wines To Pair With Pipcorn Are…

Did you know German movie theaters serve sweet kettle corn instead of our salted, buttered variety?  With a kettle corn tasting at Provisions on Friday, we found some Austrian and German wines to pair. Join us Saturday night to sample:

Frank Etz Gruner Veltliner ’11 1L – This crisp, refreshing Gruner in a 1 Liter bottle is a fantastic value and a perennial staff favorite.  Light, with bright notes of citrus and stone fruits.

Schmitts Kinder Silvaner ’11 – Made in Bavaria, in South East Germany, this wine is full-bodied with nice minerality, subtle spice and balanced acidity.

Weingut Schmitges Dry Riesling ’11 – A Classic style Riesling made in the Mosel, this wine boasts ripe peach, the slightest hint of sweetness and a thirst-quenching acidity on the finish to keep you wanting more. Good thing it comes in a liter!

Umathum Sankt Laurent ’10 – Made from the lesser known grape Sankt Laurent, this wine is akin to a Pinot Noir but with a funkier, more savory twist. Lighter in body, this red is silky with notes of spice and dark cherries.

Kabaj Goriska Brda Amfora 2006

We’re thrilled to have 6 bottles of this wine, selected as the top Slovenian wine in the New York Times this week.  Described as “rich, complex and distinctive with a raspy texture and herbal, anise flavors,” this unusual white spends time in clay amphoras before being bottled.

Kabaj Goriska Brda Amfora 2006 ($83), available to be shipped nationwide.  To order, call us at (718) 797-9463 or order online.

Edmunds St. John El Dorado County Bone Jolly Gamay Noir 2010

“Earthy, spicy, dry, lip-smacking and delicious,” says the NY Times in choosing this as its Best of Tasting among the wines suggested to pair with Thanksgiving dinner.

We’ve got 9 cases in stock now. To serve the Edmunds St. John El Dorado County Bone Jolly Gamay Noir 2010 ($21, $17.85 with 15% case discount) at your holiday table, call us at (718) 797-9463.

Enrique Mendoza Alicante La Tremenda 2009
